ABOUT ME

Home ABOUT ME

TCM Fertility Specialist

Hi, my name is Simin Wei, a registered Chinese Medicine Acupuncturist and Herbal practitioner with expertise in Fertility . I am a Ph.D.(C) Chinese Medicine in Gynaecology from China. I am a registered member of the MAcS, FTCMP, RGN,  CMA, MBFs. Also, I’m a mother of two lovely children. I spend my weekdays at our family run Acupuncture clinic located in Simpson MK, caring for my patients. At weekends, I like gardening and looking after my family.

I help couples to get pregnant and stay pregnant by preparing their body and mind for fertility and pregnancy.I love empowering many women with the tools and techniques of ancient Traditional Chinese Medicines to overcome fertility issues and grow their families.

In my Fertility Acupuncture Clinic in Milton Keynes, I use Chinese acupuncture and herbal Medicine to improve our clients’ well-being, including those struggling with specific health complaints, and women who are trying to conceive, are pregnant or are in postpartum recovery.

How I came to TCM

Twenty-five years ago, I was working as an RGN and clinical teacher for Nursing Students and Junior Medical Students at Luzhou Medical College Hospital in China and came to England working in Imperial College Medicine Hospital ( St. Mary’s Hospital in London), ENT, GI and Intensive Care Unit, seeing so many people struggling with their health. When my second child suffered from a chronic viral cough day and night, Western medicine could no longer help. I decided to begin my Chinese Medicine journey.

I followed my heart, which led me to study Chinese Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine in both England and China. I am now educated to a degree level in Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture, and completing a Ph.D. programme in Gynaecology.

The relationship I have with my son, and my personal experience of Chinese Medicine inspired me to specialise in helping women conceive and to have beautiful, healthy babies.

In my practice, I work with and help many women in our Milton Keynes Fertility Acupuncture clinic. It is truly fulfilling work.

Pictured below is of one of the Chinese Medicine Fertility/IVF Support Academic Conferences in China 2019. I was one of the few speakers invited to the conference.

I feel so fortunate to run a business doing the work I love, adapting powerful ancient Chinese healing techniques to help my clients with their problems.

Embryo Transfer Support

Improve your chances of a successful embryo transfer with acupuncture treatments both before and after the transfer takes place. Around 1-24 hours before your transfer your acupuncture treatment will aid relaxation. Blood flow to your uterus will increase to support the embryo’s reception. Afterwards, a follow-up acupuncture session will help return you to a more calm, relaxed state. It will support the growing embryo, and encourage your body’s energy to hold the embryo in place.

Please note this treatment follows a different pricing structure to our regular fertility acupuncture services. Call 01908 690544 for more details.

Male Fertility Treatment

When a couple struggles to get pregnant, male fertility is a contributing factor more than 50% of the time.
Research shows that the average man’s sperm count and sperm quality have decreased by more than 40% in the past half-century due to sperm’s sensitivity to heat, environmental toxins, diet and stress, contributing to increased numbers of couples experience infertility.

Lifestyle factors can have a negative impact on sperm counts. These factors include:

  • Eating an unhealthy diet
  • Drinking excessive alcohol
  • Using marijuana
  • Smoking cigarettes
  • Using hot tubs (as high temperatures decrease sperm count and quality)
  • Being overweight

And it’s not just women who experience a decline in fertility as they get older. New research is showing that men’s sperm quality begins to decline around the age of 45, which impacts the likelihood of a successful pregnancy and the health outcome of their child.

New research shows that acupuncture can significantly improve the quality and health of sperm. In a study published in Fertility and Sterility in 2005, researchers analyzed sperm samples from men with infertility of unknown cause before and after acupuncture treatments. They found that acupuncture was associated with fewer structural defects in sperm and an increase in the number of normal sperm.

Other studies have shown that regular acupuncture treatments significantly improve sperm counts and motility (the strength with which the sperm swim).

Please be reassured we never insert needles into your ‘private areas’ – no matter what health condition you are seeking help for. I will explain where the needles will be placed, and you will remain in full control throughout. Many of the people I treat don’t even feel the needles go in at all.

MK Chinese Medicne and Fertility Acupuncture Center

To get the maximum benefit from acupuncture, I recommend a minimum treatment course of 3 months, for men. But improvements in sperm quality and quantity can occur rapidly making even a one-off acupuncture treatment beneficial.

Male fertility acupuncture treatments are suitable whether you are trying to conceive naturally or using assisted reproductive technology (ART) including intrauterine insemination (IUI) or in vitro fertilization (IVF) procedures. If you are using ART, your acupuncture treatment can be started at any time during the cycle.

Details on how to get in touch with me, or book an appointment are at the bottom of the page.

Throughout your pregnancy and beyond

I am here to help you conceive, experience and healthy pregnancy and make a vibrant postpartum recovery. Acupuncture is completely safe throughout pregnancy and after the birth. It is a proven way of managing unpleasant symptoms, and promoting an overall feeling of well-being.

“ I had very little symptoms through my pregnancy, my baby flourished, and I felt  safe and secure in the hands of Simin” – Joanne Northampton.

Postpartum Care

Once you’re holding your precious baby in your arms, you may forget to take care of yourself (we’ve all been there). Acupuncture can help you recover physically and emotionally from pregnancy and birth (whether you had a vaginal delivery or a C-section). I can also help improve your chances of breastfeeding successfully by using acupuncture to boost lactation.

Getting Started:

Your first appointment takes 1 hour and includes your health history review, and a test acupuncture treatment, lifestyle/dietary/supplement, and herbal recommendations. The cost is £60. (The cost of herbs, if appropriate for your case, is not included).

If you and your partner make an appointment for an initial consultation, it’s 90 minutes. I charge £120 altogether for both initial consultations.

Follow up treatments take about 30 minutes and are £40 or you can buy a pre-paid package of 6 treatments which makes them £36 each. The package can be shared by couples.
